Queretaro; February 3, 2023.- The global leader in technology and services, Bosch, announced the expansion of its automotive steering column manufacturing plant in Queretaro. The project represents an investment of 146 million dollars.

In attendance at the ceremony held to kick off operations at the new plant were Manuel Montes, the Mayor of Colón; the Secretary of Sustainable Development, Marco Antonio Del Prete; René Schlegel, President of Bosch Mexico; Julia Wegmann, Commercial Director of Bosch Queretaro; Jorge Baca, Regional Director at American Industries; the state’s Governor, Mauricio Kuri; and other directors and officers of Bosch Mexico.

The plant is located inside the Aerotech Industrial Park in Queretaro, under the umbrella of American Industries’ real estate solutions, a Mexican company specializing in facilitating the establishment of foreign companies in the country.

In light of recent transformations in various industries and the production demand for electric and hybrid vehicles in Mexico, Bosch has become an important player in the automotive and electromobility sector. Specifically, the German company’s plant in Mexico will focus its production on cutting-edge, life-saving technologies, such as electric power-assisted steering, a driver assistance device—production that will also strengthen the region’s automotive supply chain.

“Exactly one year ago today, we announced the expansion of this site, and today we are formally inaugurating the start of operations to continue serving more clients and generating more jobs in the region. This speed and perseverance are cause for celebration. As an innovation company, these are exactly the characteristics that allow us to adapt to the market before others,” said  René Schlegel, President of Bosch Mexico.

“We are excited to be a consistent advocate for economic development in the country, specifically in the Queretaro region, where we have spearheaded significant projects in the industrial real estate sector focused on the automotive industry. We are proud that Bosch Mexico has placed their trust in us since 2016 for these projects aimed at facilitating and growing their operations through our real estate division,” highlighted Jorge Baca, Regional Director at American Industries Group.

Since 2017, the Bosch Mexico Plant, which currently has 483 employees, has been producing electronic devices for the automotive industry. The expansion project consists of 10,425 square meters (112,219 sq. ft.) and was developed by American Industries Group real estate solutions to meet the company’s production demand, which has increased in recent years.
