President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico participated in her first G20 Leaders’ Summit, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. During the event, Sheinbaum engaged in bilateral meetings with the presidents of the United States, Canada, China, Colombia, Vietnam, and France. In her meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, Sheinbaum explored opportunities for collaboration on infrastructure, healthcare, and water resource management, along with advancing gender equality initiatives. Conversations with Chinese President Xi Jinping highlighted China’s support for Mexico through recent aid initiatives and mutual efforts to strengthen economic ties.

Sheinbaum also met with Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to discuss cultural collaboration and opportunities to deepen relations. Meanwhile, her talks with Colombian President Gustavo Petro focused on a shared vision for advancing progressive regional policies.

Leaders from these nations commended Mexico’s successful presidency of the group, which emphasized multilateralism, women’s development, and enhanced cooperation among development authorities.
