A strategic and lasting relationship

The relationship between Japan and Guanajuato is not new. Currently:

  • More than 130 Japanese companies have a presence in the state.
  • Guanajuato has the largest concentration of Japanese investment in all of Mexico.
  • Educational, cultural, and economic ties are maintained with prefectures such as Hiroshima and Tochigi.

Governor Diego Sinhue Rodríguez highlighted the trust that Japan has placed in the state:

“Japanese companies not only bring capital, they also share knowledge, discipline, and technology. Guanajuato is prepared to continue growing hand in hand with our international partners.”

A global push from the local level

These investments are part of a comprehensive strategy to attract capital that prioritizes technological innovation, sustainability in production processes, and the training of local talent so they can compete in a global environment. Furthermore, these new projects are expected to contribute to greater integration of local suppliers into international value chains, as well as boost economic development in regions that have traditionally been outside the main industrial hubs of the Bajío region.
