It is the most populated city of the Mexican state of Chihuahua with approximately 1,600 000  inhabitants and it is one of the fastest growing cities in the world. Juarez is bordered to the south, east and west by the state of Chihuahua and to the north by the city of El Paso, Texas. Juarez and El Paso are one the largest binational metropolitan areas in the world.
